Horizontal Directional Drill Locator
Reporting to the Foreman or Project Supervisor the HDD Locator is responsible for operating the equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. The HDD Locator must also clean maintain and secure all equipment. Equipment may include and not limited to JT10 JT60.
Position Qualifications:
- Great degree of manual dexterity
- Preferred 2 years of locating experience in underground utility construction
- Class 5 Alberta drivers license preferred with a clean drivers abstract
- Can communicate in English (speak read and write)
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities. Detail oriented with an aptitude for metrics
- Strong drive to get projects / work completed. High integrity ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel domestically as required
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and in awkward and tight spaces
Ticket Requirements
- Intermediate First Aid Ground Disturbance Level II Generic WHMIS 2015 CSTS 2020
Reporting Relationship
The HDD Locator reports directly to a Foreman or Project Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation policies and procedures
- Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
- Ensure equipment is safe and secure at end of shift
- Advise the Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
- Assessing ground conditions of each location
- Load/unload and transport construction materials
- Participate in daily hazard assessments tailgate meetings and company safety meetings
- Maintain a positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Operate company vehicles and equipment in a safe professional and courteous manner
- Operate basic hand tools such as shovels rakes brooms etc
- Direct operators of construction equipment with alignment movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to location needs
- Locate drill beacon housing to direct HDD operator direction of drilling
- Assist with the jetting procedure
