Job Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Boating and OHV Safety Education Program Manager the OHV Safety Education Coordinator position is responsible for developing implementing & coordinating a public safety education program that promotes the agencys mission with regard to the safe responsible & ethical use of all OHVs. This position is responsible for coordinating monitoring & reporting on the agencys statewide OHV Safety Education program. Coordinate monitor evaluate & report the efforts of volunteer OHV safety education instructors & OHV safety education interns that conduct OHV safety education & related programs and activities statewide.

Job Duties:

Major duties will include:

- Develop conduct and maintain Arizona Game and Fish Department OHV safety education programs throughout the state by training directing motivating coordinating and evaluating volunteer OHV safety education instructors. Coordinate and conduct initial and recurrent volunteer instructor training classes workshops seminars public presentation(s) and other educational events or activities as needed or directed. Schedule and coordinate classes and instructors statewide ensuring their availability. Maintain the agencys class schedule and ensure instructors have necessary materials to conduct classes.

- Work with outside agencies civic organizations schools city county regional state federal and other officials as necessary to assure that the Department adopts new strategies tactics and methods for program delivery goals. Monitor other state NGOs and other organizations to develop new or enhance existing OHV safety education programs. Explore efforts to establish measurements to assure program effectiveness. Complete written reports on course delivery assuring course integrity throughout the state.

- Capture and report statistical data related to OHV safety education program activity statewide. Provide regular written administrative and statistical reports providing accurate and informative data on courses programs and related activity as directed. Provide input for the annual program budget and work plan. Purchase equipment and items needed to conduct classes and activities following state and agency purchasing policies and procedures

- Maintain program equipment and supplies used in the program. Maintain an inventory of collateral student manuals and related supplies brochures equipment and other items as required to support the OHV safety education program following state and agency procurement rules and policies. Respond to questions calls or other requests requiring customer service brochures or information and other administrative tasks

- Serve as the lead for hiring training directing motivating coordinating and evaluating the OHV education programs summer internships.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

The candidate should have knowledge of the concepts of program planning design & implementation of education & training programs curriculum development and an understanding of educational learning styles. Considerable knowledge of volunteer motivation management monitoring & evaluation. Knowledge & understanding of the Departments volunteer policies & procedures as well as a good working knowledge of state procurement statutes & department policies. Considerable knowledge & experience in the concepts of off-highway vehicles trail safety and related activities in general use & operation; the laws regulations & trends in OHV use; knowledge of local state & federal programs & resources related to off-highway vehicles use & outdoor recreation in general. Work knowledge of program budget management. Mechanical aptitude for use in an off-highway/trail environment.

The candidate should have skill in/to: Strong communication and presentation skills that include effective writing skills. Strong reasoning skills and effective interpersonal skills as well as be skillful in conflict resolution. Must be skilled in the use of Google and MS office suite software applications. Must have current training and be skilled in basic first aid and CPR techniques.

The candidate must have the ability to develop conduct and evaluate educational outreach and training programs establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff at all levels outside contractors volunteer instructors interns the general public external partners and others. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities be detailed oriented and able to meet required deadlines while consistently providing a high level of customer service and/or work product. Must have the ability to maintain composure and professional demeanor in all situations.

Selective Preference(s):

The preferred candidate will have a degree in outdoor recreation education general business OR two years of experience in adult training or educational programs or two years of professional experience in a related field including volunteer management. The ideal candidate will have certified first responder training on AED/CPR and have significant experience in off-highway vehicle operation and demonstrate a high level of knowledge skills and proficiency in all types of OHVs as well as an understanding and use of off-highway related equipment and International Off-Highway Vehicle Administers Association (INOHVAA) education standards. Have a basic understanding of Tread Lightly! Vehicle Safety Institute (ASI/ATV) certification would be an added benefit but not required. Recreation Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) certification would be an added benefit but not required. Bilingual skill in Spanish/English would be an added benefit but not required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on receipt of a level 1 fingerprint clearance card prior to appointment.
