Job Summary:

The 4-H Outreach Associate Educator position will join a team of 4-H PYD Staff to bring 4-H Outreach Programs to diverse settings and audiences. This role is based in Appleton WI and will serve Outagamie County and surrounding communities. This role is housed in the Positive Youth Development Institute within UW-Madisons Division of Extension ( Extensions Institute of Positive Youth Development prepares the youth of today to become the effective empathic adults of tomorrow. Our research-based youth enrichment programs like teens in governance build youth and adult capacity and partnerships that help both sides grow. 4-H clubs camps and afterschool programs give young people hands-on experiences they need to develop an understanding of themselves and the world.

With guidance from the 4-H Positive Youth Development Educators the 4-H Program Outreach Associate Educator conducts 4-H programs including after-school programs educational experiences and camps. Outreach Associate Educators deliver and assist with planning outreach program activities strengthen partnerships and ensure adherence to policy. Initial efforts of this position will include developing relationships with community partners such as schools libraries Boys and Girls Clubs to determine which 4-H outreach programs can be implemented in partnership with existing programs.

County Location

The main office for this position is located in Appleton WI and the primary programming focus is Outagamie County; however some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.

Temporary Position/FTE

This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.

This position is part-time; 50% FTE.

In Person

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person onsite at a designated campus work location.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 30lbs with assistance

Evening/Weekend Work

This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served.

Applicants are required to: Have a valid drivers license and a reliable source of independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel and/or comply with requirements for UW-Madison vehicle use authorization.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Tracks program evaluation and incorporates feedback for improvement
  • Procures and maintains course materials and supplies
  • Implements initiatives and events that serve the target audience
  • Helps design marketing materials and promotions for programs
  • Teaches culturally relevant educational programs to adults and youth using learner-centered activities and lessons
  • Communicate plan activities and achievements to Area Extension Director 4-H educators Program Managers partners and relevant stakeholders.

Compensation:

The minimum annual (12 months) starting Salary for the position is $46363 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications

This is a part-time position which means actual salary earned will be prorated based on FTE (full-time status). At 50% FTE the person hired can expect to receive 50% of the advertised salary. Please note that some benefits such as paid time off will be prorated by appointment percentage.

Required Qualifications:

  • Programming and/or service delivery experience related to youth development

  • Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technology

  • Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds including those associated with race ethnicity national origin religion socioeconomic status age gender disability sexual orientation and other aspects of human diversity

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments including demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working cooperatively with other agencies community-based services or organizations to address educational needs

  • Experience managing multiple tasks timelines and schedules while maintaining high-quality work

  • Demonstrated experience with board leadership or development

  • Experience communicating and implementing policy

Education:

Required Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education:

Bachelors Degree
