Position Description


The Career Coach Facilitator Northern Ontario plays a key role plays a key role in the success of theOntario Career Lab (OCL)- an innovative province-wide career exploration initiative led by HIEC that connects volunteer Career Coaches with Grade 9 and 10 students across position is ideal for a confident facilitator who is passionate about youth engagement and understands the unique communities industries and cultural landscapes across Northern Ontario.


The facilitator leads career coaching sessions in schools and ensures seamless coordination between educators volunteers and students. The role blends dynamic facilitation with program coordination and community engagement connecting youth to real-world career insights. A strong interest or background in career development experiential learning or workforce education is highly valued.

Job Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities


  • Facilitation and Program Delivery
    • Deliver engaging opening and closing presentations that inspire students and set the tone for career exploration sessions.
    • Manage event flow transitions and timing while maintaining high energy and professionalism.
    • Adapt facilitation style to suit diverse audiences and learning environments.
    • Support student engagement throughout sessions and ensure alignment with program objectives.
    • Represent HIEC and Ontario Career Lab as an enthusiastic credible and professional facilitator.


  • Program Coordination and Logistics
    • Serve as the on-site lead for each event overseeing setup materials and volunteer orientation.
    • Conduct pre-session briefings with Career Coaches to review structure expectations and key messages.
    • Coordinate logistics with teachers and administrators ensuring clarity on schedules groupings and accessibility needs.
    • Manage event materials including distributing and collecting resources and ensuring readiness of technology and supplies.


  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build strong relationships with educators students volunteers and community partners.
    • Support recruitment of Career Coaches by connecting with local employers associations and industry organizations.
    • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders addressing on-site questions and resolving challenges as they arise.
    • Collaborate with partner organizations to enhance the reach and impact of Ontario Career Lab programming.


  • Evaluation and Reporting
    • Administer and collect post-session evaluations from students and Career Coaches.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security protocols when handling program information.
    • Document session outcomes and submit concise reports to the Program Management Team.
    • Share insights and success metrics that help strengthen overall program delivery.


  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to enhance facilitation techniques and student engagement strategies.
    • Contribute creative ideas to improve logistics volunteer experiences and program impact.
    • Support knowledge-sharing across the facilitation team to ensure consistency and excellence.


Qualifications to Succeed:

  • Minimum: high school diploma; post-secondary education in education communications or social sciences is an asset.
  • 35 years experience in facilitation training delivery or program coordination.
  • Familiarity with Northern Ontario communities geography and cultural context is highly valued.
  • Experience working with youth or in educational settings is a strong asset.
  • Experience in career coaching employment counselling or workforce development is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for coordination reporting and communication.
  • Fluency in French (written and spoken) is an asset.
  • ASL/FSL is an asset.
  • Experience facilitating both virtual and in-person sessions.

Working Conditions

  • Remote position based in Northern Ontario; travel required throughout the region to school and community sites (Main office is in Burlington ON)
  • Frequent travel across Ontario to school locations.
  • Valid Ontario drivers licence and access to a reliable vehicle required.
  • Early mornings and flexible scheduling based on school needs.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) is required.
