Position Summary
The Department of Statistics and Operations Research invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor in Actuarial Science. We seek candidates with demonstrated excellence-or strong potential-in teaching actuarial principles mathematics and statistics/operations research with the goal of preparing students for professional actuarial examinations. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the advancement of the departments instructional programs and pedagogical initiatives. This renewable position begins with a three-year (or five-year contract if hired at the rank of a Teaching Associate Professor) contract and offers opportunities for promotion (Teaching Associate Professor Teaching Professor) and longer-term appointments aligning with a clear teaching-focused career trajectory. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver engaging instruction in introductory service courses incorporating effective teaching practices and technology-enhanced learning strategies. The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate courses across the academic year (two semesters). In addition to teaching responsibilities for this position include academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate students majoring in Statistics and Analytics and taking Actuarial Science courses. Active participation in departmental life (including committee service support of departmental initiatives and contributions to collaborative projects) is expected. Opportunities for summer teaching assignments are generally available and compensated separately.

Must be comfortable with large-enrollment introductory service courses utilizing appropriate technology enhancements and pedagogy techniques and advising and mentoring undergraduate students majoring in Statistics and Analytics.
