The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Site Tooling Lead to support the 787 Program in North Charleston South Carolina on 2nd shift.
The Team Lead will be responsible for but are not limited to performing tasks in the following areas; pre-shift planning crew meetings team status updates labor loss production control training process improvement and Lean/ are seeking a safety conscientious resilient highly motivated detail oriented continuous learner to support multiple tooling operations across Boeing South a team environment the chosen candidate will conduct operations including: 4 block cab crane pendant controlled overhead crane movement of 787 major body sections aircraft towing welding shoring tool inspections/repairs and tool fabrication.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs complex tool setup activities (e.g. alignment leveling).
Performs visual inspections on tools using appropriate documentation.
Makes major repairs.
Manufactures assembly and fabrication tools using various manual and computer-controlled machines hand tools and precision alignment equipment.
Operates various factory support equipment to move materials and tools as required.
Provides tooling support to other organizations.
Designs various part fabrication and assembly tools per part engineering drawings or customer requests to enable production using computer or paper tool design processes.
Determines fabrication and assembly processes for the design.
Reverse engineers designs and fabrication processes for parts.
Demonstrates functionality of complex fabrication and assembly tools to approving authority by manufacturing first part with new tool.
Resolves problems with tool to produce acceptable parts and assemblies.
Works under general direction.
The expectation is to carry out these responsibilities (at minimum) on a daily basis while living and instilling the Boeing values aligned with the Boeing priorities
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Boeing South Carolina.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
3 years of experience leading teams in a formal and/or informal role
3 years of experience with set-up maintenance troubleshooting and repair of machine tools
3 years of work experience with various types of hand held power tools.
3 years of experience repairing maintaining construction and/or the inspection of tools dies jigs power feed etc.
Must be proficient in the Velocity system
Must maintain all necessary certifications to perform the position
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time (6 hours).
Must be able to carry and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with 787 move team statement of work.
Prior experience in a leadership role
