Therapy Services

  • Work hours: On an as needed basis: must sign up for 2 weekend days per quarter on call (submit 4 dates you are available and then you are scheduled for 2 of those dates)
  • Weekend on call is from 8 am - 10 am for new stroke evals that have failed a nursing swallow screen discharge pending patients and newly extubated patient.
  • Major holiday on-call requirement: in a rotating list to where you work 1 major holiday.

Heres What You Need

Masters Degree Speech Language Pathology Required Or
Other Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Required

SLP Experience with adult population acute care hospital-based inpatient setting.

SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Required Or
SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Intern License Upon Hire Required
SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Preferred

Need to have clinical certificate of competence CCC-SLP And

BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Problem- solving ability; Ability to teach others.

Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills Basic leadership skills.

What You Will Do

Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care.

Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.

Educates patient and family through instruction demonstration and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan safety issues home
programs/self-management and assistive equipment.

Documents all aspects of assessment plan of care and re-certifications in accordance with departmental TJC Medicare and other applicable regulatory guidelines.

Works in partnership with peers other disciplines and departmental personnel
