Job Summary

Job Summary: Workforce Development (WFD) Instructor - Fire Training are PART-TIME instructors hired to teach specific classes or programs that are scheduled and taught at various times throughout the calendar year.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 5 years of fire service experience

Licensing Requirements: - Valid Drivers License

Hiring Range:Varies

Preferred Qualifications: - Credentialed PA State Fire Academy Instructor (for local level facility and academy instruction)
- PA State Certification Program Evaluator (for certification programs)

Physical Demands:

-Ability to stand walk bend and lift during extended training sessions.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work may involve climbing kneeling crawling and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to wear and operate firefighting gear respirators and equipment as required for demonstrations and training.
- Visual and auditory ability to monitor safety and respond quickly in emergency situations.

Job Specific Task List:

  • Deliver classroom and hands-on fire training in compliance with NFPA OSHA and State and National standards. - (Essential)
  • Develop and update lesson plans training materials and scenario-based exercises. - (Essential)
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback. - (Essential)
  • Maintain accurate training and certification records. - (Essential)
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during all training activities. - (Essential)
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development staff fire departments and community partners to meet training needs. - (Essential)
  • Maintain required instructor certifications and participate in ongoing professional development. - (Essential)
  • Ability to drive a vehicle or an emergency vehicle in a safe manner if required. - (Essential)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. - (Standard)
