Safety Adviser

About the Role

MCA Engineering is seeking a Safety Advisor with demonstrated experience in underground mining to support our team on-site at Cadia Mine in Orange NSW. This is a FIFO/DIDO role providing HSE support for an underground construction project running for a minimum of 3 months with possible extension.

The principal functions of this position is to maintain and monitor MCA Engineerings Safety System: Lucidity and review all Quality Health Safety and Environmental related strategies policies and procedures risk assessments and safe working practices throughout MCA in accordance with International and local Quality Health Safety & Environmental Legislation and standards.

To work proactively with Managers and Supervisors to establish and maintain efficient & safe systems of work and a safe environment. This role is a site-based role at the Cadia Mine NSW on an 8:6 roster working back to back with other safety advisors reporting to the Project Manager.

What Were Looking For

We are currently seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Advisor who brings strong communication skills underground experience and a genuine commitment to safety leadership.

Key Selection Criteria

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
• A minimum of 3 years experience in an underground environment
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance requirements
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with management supervisory and operational staff
• Demonstrated ability to coach and influence safe work behaviours
• Strong reporting and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a site team
• Confident conducting site inspections audits and risk assessments
• Available for FIFO/DIDO to Cadia Mine for the duration of the project
• Willingness and ability to regularly work underground as part of the role
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol testing
• Detail-oriented with excellent organisational ability
• Comfortable engaging with tradespeople supervisors and management
• A positive can-do attitude with a focus on continuous improvement
