Position Summary IV & Wound Care Nurse (RN)
The IV & Wound Care Nurse is responsible for providing and overseeing skilled treatments including intravenous therapy wound care respiratory support and restorative nursing interventions. This role ensures accuracy and compliance with all clinical documentation physician orders and care plans while offering direct clinical support to nurses performing related treatments.
This is a hands-on clinical role that combines expert-level assessment treatment delivery and interdisciplinary communication to promote the highest standards of resident care.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Assessment & Clinical Oversight
Assess each residents condition upon admission readmission and during reassessment focusing on respiratory status wound status IV needs and restorative requirements.
Collaborate with physicians NPs and nursing leadership to determine appropriate clinical interventions.
Initiate & Update Orders
Documentation & Quality Assurance
Maintain thorough documentation of treatment rationale progress and ongoing assessments.
Complete and document pre- and post-treatment assessments daily to ensure continuity of resident monitoring.
Conduct monthly reviews of administration records to ensure accuracy completion of signatures and correction of errors.
Audit treatment records to ensure compliance with facility standards and regulatory guidelines.
Collaboration & Communication
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss residents with acute changes active treatments or those who may benefit from restorative or maintenance programs.
Provide guidance and support to fellow nurses performing IV wound or restorative treatments.
Promote consistent communication across departments to ensure cohesive resident-centered care.
Qualifications
Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of one year of infusion/IV therapy experience required
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and maintain schedules
Professional reassuring demeanor when working with residents of all ages
Ability to work both at a desk (documentation) and on the unit performing hands-on care
Capable of standing bending reaching and performing clinical tasks for extended periods
