Job Summary
Position Summary:
The Facilities Technician at Vertiv is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the facility by performing routine maintenance equipment repairs and building upkeep. This hands-on role ensures that all systems machinery and infrastructure are operating safely efficiently and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections preventive maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC plumbing lighting and mechanical systems.
- Respond promptly to facility-related work orders troubleshooting issues and resolving them effectively to reduce downtime.
- Assist in equipment installations moves and general facility modifications.
- Monitor and maintain building infrastructure including restrooms breakrooms common areas and office space to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Work closely with contractors and vendors during repairs or project work; escort and monitor as needed for safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs for equipment and work performed.
- Support workplace safety initiatives by identifying hazards and ensuring equipment and tools meet safety standards.
- Assist with snow removal landscaping and basic groundskeeping duties as needed (site-dependent).
- Maintain inventory of tools parts and supplies and notify leadership when reorder is needed.
- Follow all Vertiv safety policies and procedures promoting a clean and hazard-free work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 25 years of experience in facilities maintenance building services or general maintenance work.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical electrical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and equipment documentation.
- Basic computer skills; ability to use maintenance software or CMMS (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing walking bending and use of ladders or lifts.
- Occasional kneeling crawling or working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments sometimes in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certificate or associate degree in a relevant field (e.g. HVAC Electrical Industrial Maintenance).
- Experience in a manufacturing warehouse or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with building codes OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
