Lead Researcher & Standardization Engineer (3GPP Connected Mobility)

Are you an accomplished Ph.D. holder and an experienced 3GPP delegate ready to shape the future of connected mobility We are seeking a Lead Researcher and Standardization Engineer to drive research contribute to global 3GPP standards and innovate communication technologies for next-generation vehicles. This high-impact role blends fundamental research with critical standardization work.
The Role: What Youll Do
You will be responsible for leading research projects and ensuring our innovations are successfully incorporated into global communication standards (3GPP).

Lead 3GPP Standardization:
-
Create invention disclosures and write high-quality 3GPP RAN1 RAN2 and/or RAN contributions.

Attend and contribute actively as a delegate to 3GPP RAN1 RAN2 and/or RAN standardization meetings (requires domestic and international travel typically $sim5$ trips/year).

Contribute to other standardization bodies (e.g. SAE ETSI IEEE 802) as requested.

Drive Research & Innovation:

Propose and lead cutting-edge research projects for communication technologies in connected mobility.

Propose and conduct research and development with internal and external collaboration partners.

Create academic publications based on project output and research phase.

Contribute to other research projects within TMNA R&D InfoTech Labs as needed.

What Youll Bring (Qualifications)

Education: Ph.D. holder in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
-
3GPP Experience: 3GPP RAN1 or RAN2 delegate experience is strictly required.

Technical Knowledge:
-
Strong knowledge of wireless communication at Layer 1 and Layer 2.

Solid understanding of 4G LTE and 5G NR standards and the 3GPP standardization processes.

Experience writing 3GPP contributions and attending meetings as a delegate preferably in RAN1 WG.

Research & Professional Skills:
-
Research and development experience in wireless communications preferably in vehicular environments.

Capability to learn and explore new research areas rapidly.
-
Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
-
Clear and concise presentation skills (written and oral) with consideration for international audiences.

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a highly motivated team environment.

Travel Requirement: Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (Asia: Japan Korea India; and Europe) for standardization meetings ($sim 5$ one-week trips per year).
