Job Description & Skill Requirement:
Duties/Responsibilities
Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor walking the line checking material status and identifying potential flow issues.
Monitor work-in-process (WIP) materials identify jobs at risk due to material issues and expedite inbound/outbound materials accordingly.
Work closely with production supervisors and planners to prioritize job material needs align allocations and escalate when issues arise.
Coordinate with procurement/supply chain for supplier delays shortages expediting special components and maintaining visibility of material lead-times.
Update the ERP/MRP system (or equivalent) with material movement job status and inventory status ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
Maintain accurate inventory records support physical counts and identify discrepancies between system and actual material stock.
Support continuous improvement efforts: suggest and implement improvements in material flow kitting Kanban systems FIFO/FEFO 5S adherence in material storage areas.
Participate in daily/weekly production meetings provide status on material readiness and risk to meet delivery commitments.
Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams (engineering quality production logistics) to drive operational effectiveness.
Adhere to aerospace manufacturing standards quality requirements safety rules and regulatory obligations.
Contribute to continuous improvement projects reducing cycle times eliminating bottlenecks and enhancing throughput.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proactive high-urgency mindset - you see material risks and act before they become schedule issues.
Strong sense of ownership of material flow and schedule delivery performance.
Excellent interpersonal skills - youll coordinate across functions and work on the floor with production teams.
Detail-oriented yet capable of seeing the bigger picture: you track individual parts but also understand job/execution level risks.
Adaptable and resilient: manufacturing priorities shift and youll need to adjust material flow accordingly.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Operations Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Technology or related field preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
3-5 years of experience in materials management production control manufacturing operations (preferably in aerospace or heavy manufacturing).
Strong familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and shop-floor material flow (e.g. kitting WIP staging job prioritization).
Demonstrated ability to work on the floor interact with production teams escalate and resolve material flow issues in real-time.
Good analytical organizational and communication skills with a track record of driving follow-through on issues and providing reliable status updates.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing 5S continuous improvement is a plus.
Ability and willingness to spend significant time walking the manufacturing floor (standing walking sometimes lifting moderate loads interacting with operators/supervisors).
Aerospace manufacturing environment experience is desirable (but not necessarily mandatory if strong manufacturing materials experience is present).
US Citizen due to program requirements
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of standing and the ability to traverse a shop environment
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
