Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will work in an acute care hospital setting providing care to oncology patients. The role involves administering chemotherapy managing related complications and performing IV therapy. The RN will work collaboratively with the healthcare team ensuring patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities:

- Administer chemotherapy treatments via various routes (IV push continuous infusion oral).
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and complications related to chemotherapy.
- Manage cytotoxic spills and handle body fluids post-chemotherapy according to safety protocols.
- Access and manage ports and central lines including blood draws and care.
- Administer blood and blood products coagulation factors antifungals and antivirals.
- Start IVs and provide comprehensive IV therapy.
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately in Cerner.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois or in the application process.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience in administering chemotherapy.
- Experience in IV therapy and infusion skills (accessing ports central line care starting IVs).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Chemotherapy certification.
Special Considerations:

- Will work every other weekend.
- No on-call requirement.
- The client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay.
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 Day shifts (0715-1845).
- Able to accommodate 3x12 schedules.
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
