Job Summary:
The Data Architect will be responsible for designing implementing and managing a scalable secure and integrated data architecture on Microsoft Azure for a government entity. This includes developing data ingestion transformation and integration pipelines ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing technical leadership to data engineers and analysts. The role requires a strong understanding of Azure services data governance and the ability to align data architecture with business requirements.

This includes developing data ingestion transformation and integration pipelines ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing technical leadership to data engineers and analysts. The role requires a strong understanding of Azure services data governance and the ability to align data architecture with business requirements.
Location:Edmonton Alberta Canada
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable secure and high-performance data architecture on Microsoft Azure.
- Lead the development of data ingestion transformation and integration pipelines using Azure Data Factory Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Architect and manage data lakes and structured storage solutions using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
- Integrate data from diverse source systems using APIs connectors and custom scripts.
- Develop and maintain robust data models and semantic layers.
- Build and optimize data workflows using Python and SQL within Azure Databricks.
- Design and expose secure data services and APIs using Azure API Management.
- Implement data governance practices including metadata management data classification and lineage tracking.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory standards through role-based access controls encryption and data masking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data architecture with business requirements.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and integrations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and analysts.
- Other duties as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- College or Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field of study.
- 8 years of experience as a Data Architect in a large enterprise.
- 6 years of hands-on experience in Python and SQL for Data Engineering.
- 5 years of experience with Azure Infrastructure Services and Authentication.
- 4 years of experience designing analytics-ready data platforms.
- 4 years of experience using version control systems.
- 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake.
- 3 years of experience managing Databricks workspaces.
- College or Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field of study.
- 8 years of experience as a Data Architect in a large enterprise.
- 6 years of hands-on experience in Python and SQL for Data Engineering.
- 5 years of experience with Azure Infrastructure Services and Authentication.
- 4 years of experience designing analytics-ready data platforms.
- 4 years of experience using version control systems.
- 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake.
- 3 years of experience managing Databricks workspaces.
