Job Summary

Who We Are:CAMBA is a community of staff volunteers clients donors neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development Family Support Job Training & Employment Support Services Health Housing and Legal Services. We reach almost 80000 individuals and families including almost 13000 serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBA operates six homeless shelters funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services. Each shelter offers clients a supportive structured therapeutic safe and drug-free facility. Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing. Specifically CAMBAs Atlantic House Mens Shelter located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn serves 200 single men at any given time. The majority of these clients are dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse. The Park Slope Shelter for Women serves 100 MICA (mentally ill chemical abusing) women at the Park Slope Armory in Brooklyn. The Broadway House Womens Shelter in Bushwick serves 165 women approximately 37 of whom are mentally ill and chemically addicted. The Gathering Place is a Brooklyn Drop-In Center serving 125 homeless men and women 18 years and older. CAMBAs Opportunity House (COH) is a 62 bed mens general population shelter funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services located in downtown Brooklyn. COH offers clients a supportive structured therapeutic safe and drug-free facility. Homeless men are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing. CAMBAs Magnolia House is located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn serves 200 single women at any given time. The majority of these clients are diagnosed with mental illness some dually with chemical addictions as well. CAMBAs Rising Up Mens Shelter is a 141 bed mens employment shelter located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. This shelter will provide an array of services with a strong focus on connections for residents to achieve stable employment to lead to permanent housing.

What The Vice President Does:

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Comply with any and all Federal State City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
  • Clearly communicate both CAMBAs and funders policies requirements guidelines and program performance targets to staff.
  • Provide oversite of facility operations including assisting Director of Security and Operations and Program Directors with preventative maintenance predictive maintenance and projects.
  • Support the Director of Security and Operations/Program Director in maintenance and facilities issues such as performing and teaching maintenance duties such as light construction exterior clean up furniture moves simple electric projects painting and buffing floors.
  • Research and procure outside maintenance support using subcontractors where required.
  • Assist in the planning and management of all special projects.
  • Review and evaluate existing methods systems program practices and procedures relative to facilities and recommend coordination with the VP/Sr. VP DSO and Program Directors implement and/or guide the implementation of new and/or modified methods systems practices and/or procedures.
  • In coordination with the Director of Security and Operations and Program Directors manage the internal facility inspections so maintenance repairs electrical plumbing and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results.
  • Effectively plan and develop facility and maintenance and operation systems to ensure effective delivery of services.
  • Develop systems to keep ahead of maintenance and repair issues to prevent them from becoming major problems.
  • Develop and implement procedures for measuring and documenting appropriate facility and shelter operations.
  • Ensure that all shelters meet all regulatory compliance (i.e.-health DHS OTDA Callahan RSRI safety and fire department).
  • Conduct and document one-on-on supervision of direct reporting staff to assess and improve work performance.
  • Coordinate purchasing and oversee inventorying and procurement of bulk supplies and equipment.
  • Track expenses related to client maintenance systems.
  • Oversee management of storage facility and ensure safety and security of people and items contained within.
  • Implement and manage a work order system for tracking facilities needs and ensuring completion in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Make recommendations to the appropriate management staff regarding facility organizational policies procedures and protocols.
  • Represent CAMBA at funder/outside agency/community meetings as requested and with public officials and other non-organizations to recommend facility program and policy improvement.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.
  • Collaborate with staff in the implementation of inventory databases and ensure the collection of statistical information and tracking results.
  • Prepare document and analyze all shelter operating expenditures related to client supplies and building maintenance to ensure cost containment and contract compliance.
  • Communicate with peers on issues related to client progress and best program practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and the negotiation of contracts.
  • Confer with the appropriate Senior Vice President/Executive Vice President regarding programmatic and personnel issues.
  • Immediately reports to the appropriate Senior Vice President/Executive Vice President any: monitoring visits or funders events; significant events; any incidents that might subject CAMBA to liability.
  • Tasks may be modified expanded and/or assigned over time.
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
  • Must have an understanding of engineering and project management with knowledge of architecture construction and environmental planning.
  • Must possess leadership qualities superior organizational abilities and effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be cost-conscious and honest when it comes to working with vendors and contractors and proactive when it comes to heading off problems.
  • Must have all the appropriate training and licenses in such areas as boilers HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning) and fire safety.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree (B. A.) and/or three years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience.

Compensation: $105k-110k annually

Status: Full-time (35 hours weekly)
