Qualifications:
College hours high school diploma or GED
Texas Drivers License
Fire Alarm Technician License
Fire Extinguisher License Type B (FEL-B) or must obtain within one year of employment.
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to climb ladders and work at high elevations
Ability to read write and speak English proficiently
Primary Purpose:
Help maintain the physical school plant in condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility to make repairs to all electronic fire alarm safety systems in facilities owned and operated by the district.
- Ability to use electronic test equipment to diagnose and repair fire alarm systems kitchen hood suppression systems and fire sprinkler systems.
- Assist in coordinating inspections on all fire alarm systems kitchen hood suppression systems and fire sprinkler systems.
- Perform repair and/or new work as requested on approved work order request.
- Assist other craft persons when requested by supervisor.
- Assist with emergency response to all fire safety systems operated by the district.
- Take all safety precautions related to all trades and report to Maintenance Supervisor any hazardous situations.
- May be required to work overtime or alternative work schedules.
- Coordinate Fire Marshal inspections.
- Attend CEU training to maintain licenses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Multimeter ohmmeter oscilloscope and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe benders and threaders; hand and power tools (saw drills etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder. Light truck or van.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual walking standing climbing stooping bending kneeling reaching and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions around electrical power lines outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent districtwide travel.
