GENERAL SUMMARY

Lincoln Park Zoo seeks a seasonal part-time photographer and digital asset management specialist to shoot photos of ZooLights and associated events (listed below) and to tag and catalog these photos and others in the zoos digital asset management platform Extensis Portfolio. This position is part-time and seasonal (8 weeks) from mid-November to mid-January. It requires being on-site at the zoo 20 hours per week often in the evenings. Work schedule is based around event calendar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Marketing Communications and Events teams to develop shot lists.
  • Shoot candid photos of ZooLights and affiliated events including lit trees displays animals gardens attractions food/beverage venues and more and people enjoying these event elements. Shoot multiple nights through the season ensuring varying weather crowds etc
  • Shoot select special holiday events at the zoo:
    • ZooLights staff previewWed. 11/19
    • ZooLights sponsor tree lighting and member previewThurs. 11/20
    • Sensory-Friendly NightTues. 11/25
    • Adults Night Out: HolidazeThurs. 12/11
    • Elf at ZooLightsSun. 12/21
    • New Years Eve at the ZooWed. 12/31 (can depart by 8:30 pm)
  • Shoot photos of zoo animals as requested or as needed while adhering to all public barriers rules and guidelines for photographer and animal safety.
  • File and tag photos in Extensis Portfolio. Deliver a sneak peek within two days a full set of selects within five business days.
  • Approach guests as zoo photographer with a professional welcoming demeanor to request and shoot posed photos in front of scenic backdrops.
  • Adhere to zoo brand guidelines with all photo shoots
  • Participate in weekly touchbase meetings with supervisor
  • Participate in team meetings and assist with other team support as needed

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education in and/or experience with photography and photo editing
  • Friendly outgoing and welcoming demeanor comfortable with interacting with guests and representing the brand on site at an event
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills can get along with diverse groups and interact courteously and respectfully with all zoo guests volunteers and staff
  • Able to exercise sound judgment regarding photo opportunities
  • Decisive; able to choose edit and deliver photos quickly and confidently
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Able to be flexible and adaptable with working conditions comfortable working in cold snow or other conditions

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • High School Degree or GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Experience with photography documented portfolio

PHYSICAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to remain stationary for 3-5 hours/day and to move around inside (office environment) and outside (events).
  • Ability to regularly perform a variety of physical tasks that may include but are not limited to climbing bending kneeling twisting reaching and/or crawling. Reasonable accommodations available.
  • Physical strength including ability and willingness to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • No allergies to plants or animals exhibited on zoo grounds.
  • Ability to traverse zoo grounds in all weather conditions


AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be available to work weekends holidays and evenings up to 8 p.m. Must be available to work at least three days/week.
