Software Engineer, Java 8 and Spring Boot

We are seeking a dynamic and driven engineer who contributes to the overall success of CCA Technology Payments team ensuring specific individual goals plans initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the teams business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations internal policies and procedures

What Youll Do

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
• Contribute to the assessment of sizing and complexity of User Stories and to the solutioning of those Stories.
• Develop User Stories to a high level of quality including identifying error scenarios the development of automated tests and the review of code coverage and static code analysis reports.
• Ensure deliverables meet architectural and coding expectations including leveraging modern language features and functional programming coding styles.
• Contribute to reviews of pull requests created by peers.
• Proactively monitor application environments with available tools create awareness in the larger team of any observed issues and contribute to resolving those issues.
• Proactively identify opportunities to drive modernization of technology and automation of processes including offering ideas of solutions to these opportunities.
• Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Support to learn iSeries based microservices

What You Bring

• Very strong English communication skills both oral and written.
• 3 to 5 years experience in a Java Developer role;
  • 2 years experience with Java8 or higher
  • 2 years experience with Spring Boot
• Expert level expereince with Postman or REST or SOAP API platforms
• Must have experience with RDMS preferably with SQL Server and DB2.
• Spanish speaking and previous experience working with LatAm teams is an Asset
• Familiarity with cloud platform technologies is an asset
• Familiarity with other technologies (such as NodeJS) is an asset
• Familiarity with Payment and Card technologies is an asset
• Experience in SCRUM Agile teams is an asset
• Experience working on multiple initiatives concurrently
• Experience working remotely in distributed project engagements
• Experience in banking or financial industry is an asset
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent
