What You Will Be Doing

Work is performed in an area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions such as wearing protective clothing or gear. May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.

Members performing PROCESS MECHANIC work are required to proficiently perform the following Deburring tasks: remove sharp edges and excess material from simple components assemblies spools sleeves housings manifolds etc. using necessary tools such as powered hand tools files scrapers picks etc. and perform inspection of deburred hardware to locate missed burrs and edges or damage.
Perform 5 of following Light Assembly tasks: pre-cleaning and post cleaning of hardware per applicable work instructions; part identification; install helicoil threaded inserts lee plugs and miscellaneous pins and parts; perform light deburring shrink fitting; light test stand operations (e.g. pressure check flushing); temperature stabilizing; apply primers and adhesives; perform sand blasting drilling and light machining; cut bar stock; operate resistance welder; electro-polish; prepare assemble and fixture assemblies for furnace brazing/fusion bonding; operate heat treat furnaces and ovens; passivate parts; and maintain passivation tanks.
Gather work orders/jobs from dispatch list; track and record time spent on work activities for project/orders.
Pull programs and set up machines/processes.
Communicate information to others about project status updates specific instructions etc. and review item status in MRP and ensure item is logged/closed out based on its current status.
Complete and review product paperwork verifying all paperwork is present and filled out appropriately and complete computer entries accurately and in a timely manner.
Document nonconformance and dispositions using nonconformance forms.
Follow all departmental safety rules and regulations and put on all appropriate safety gear and clothing/protection required by work activities.
Assist in identifying and implementing corrective actions for production issues.
Member in Deburring proficiently performs tasks such as wash deburred hardware; remove sharp edges and excess material from hardware using necessary tools such as files scrapers picks and rubber tools; perform visual inspection of deburred hardware looking for missed burrs and edges or damages; post clean hardware per applicable work instructions; deburr hardware with simple geometry and minimal critical features (e.g. .001 max. corner breaks cylindricity; tight diametrical tolerances); deburr hardware with a limited number of features; buff and polish deburred hardware.
Members in Light Assembly (i.e. Heli-coils Lee plugs bushings and Lee jets) proficiently perform 3 processes related to light assembly. Members in Mechanical Manufacturing must have the ability to read and follow basic instructions. Basic mechanical aptitude. Basic understanding of spatial concepts. Ability to learn and retain basic deburring and inspection practices. Ability to read and interpret process and engineering drawings. Basic knowledge of GD&T and WISE. Ability to read and follow complex instructions and drawings. Ability to work more independently and solve basic problems.
What We Are Looking For
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to use a variety of basic hand tools (e.g. wrenches hammers screwdrivers scrappers box cutters).
Department Safety Rules: The ability to adhere to department safety rules regarding eye and ear protection personal protection hazard labeling MSDS sheets evacuation procedures and emergency phone numbers.
Requires verbal and written communication skills. The position also requires the ability to follow work instructions/order within area of responsibility.
The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved including the ability to notice minute inconsistencies/faults in parts equipment or production processes to prevent faulty products leaving the facility.
The ability to use computer and web-based systems to input access modify or output information.
