Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a skilled Physical Plant Administrator to oversee facility operations and maintenance at ASPC-Lewis.

In this key role youll manage building systems equipment and infrastructureincluding surveillance refrigeration sewage and water systems. Youll plan and direct repairs renovations and new construction while overseeing budgets cost estimates and maintenance programs. Strong leadership and technical expertise are essential as you guide and develop a dedicated maintenance team to ensure safe efficient and high-quality operations.

Job Duties:

-Oversees the Physical Plant Operations by ensuring a preventative maintenance system is in place for equipment and buildings
-Prepares cost estimates and budget requests regarding maintenance issues and large projects
-Reviews projects and makes design recommendations
-Ensures a Work Order system is in place for all maintenance issues from submission to completion by staff
-Approves material and equipment orders for the Physical Plant
-Schedules maintenance and construction activities to ensure rapid completion of projects
-Drives on State business
-Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
-Departmental organization functions
-Principles and practices of supervision and managing personnel
-Statutes governing building building requests condemnation of buildings and expenditure regulations
-Local licensing and building code requirements
-Budgetary procedures and methods of recordkeeping
-Plant standards for accreditation
-Engineering techniques methods and practices
-Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace to create reports charts and conduct research

Skill in:
-Reading comprehension and interpretation of plans specifications or blueprints
-Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
-Engineering and mathematical calculations necessary for adequate checking of plans and specifications
-Developing effective operating procedures
-Coordinating activities and establishing priorities
-Written and verbal communication

Ability to:
-Learn Departmental organization functions
-Plan organize coordinate and analyze
-Supervise
-Work in a prison environment
-Apply motivational techniques
-Be tactful and courteous

Selective Preference(s):

-A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or technical school with a degree in engineering and one year of supervisory or administrative experience directing the operation and maintenance of a large physical plant building or multi-building complex requiring a working knowledge of the application of National Emergency Management (NEMA) Occupational Safety Health Administration (OHA) and city codes.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation drug test and a medical/physical examination.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
