Job Description:
Liquid Personnel is recruiting an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) for its client in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people by ensuring their care plans are robust effective and aligned with statutory requirements.
The role is primarily office-based with some flexibility for home working. It requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children along with excellent communication and organisational skills.
What will your responsibilities be
In this role you will:
- Chair Looked After Child (LAC) reviews ensuring care plans meet statutory requirements and promote positive outcomes.
- Monitor and track progress against care plans escalating concerns where necessary.
- Ensure the voice of the child is central to all decision-making processes.
- Work collaboratively with social workers managers and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children.
- Provide professional challenge and oversight to ensure compliance with legislation and guidance.
- Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality reports following reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Social Work England registration.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Post-qualified experience in childrens services ideally in an IRO role.
- Degree level or equivalent in Social Work.
