We are looking for a Producer to join the provincial radio program À échelle humaine which airs Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on ICI Première in Ontario.
Were seeking a creative and collaborative leader with excellent editorial judgment strong interpersonal skills and a positive team-oriented approach.
The ideal candidate knows how to harness the full potential of radio and digital platforms to showcase content that fuels public conversation. You understand the diversity of Ontarios populationfrom Toronto to Northern and Southwestern Ontarioand the importance of reflecting all communities in our programming.
Under the supervision of the Coordinating Producer the Producer will be responsible for planning designing organizing and developing the production and direction of À échelle humaine a show that explores current affairs culture and social issues. The program also highlights the cultural diversity of Ontarios Francophone communities.
The incumbent must ensure that all work complies with CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices. At the same time this role allows for considerable independence initiative and creativity. You will lead and coordinate the work of other team members regularly inspiring and motivating them to produce distinctive high-quality content.
You bring fresh ideas and the technical expertise needed to create the high-calibre programming Canadians expect from us. You think beyond convention always looking for new and innovative ways to create distinctive intelligent content values that define Radio-Canadas approach to storytelling.
Please note that this position is based in Toronto with a Tuesday-to-Saturday work schedule.
Key responsibilities:
Contribute to defining program objectives.
Develop program content including assignments research scripts and/or editing.
Commission research or written materials as needed.
Prepare scripts and production plans.
Oversee the live broadcast of the program.
Determine the style tone pacing and overall format of the program.
Plan and organize the show and its individual components or segments.
In collaboration with the program administrator plan and request the financial creative and operational resources required for production.
Assume editorial responsibility delegated by management.
Evaluate all aspects of production including performance of programming and production staff as well as freelance contributors.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Selecting adapting or revising scripts written by others.
Ensuring proper copyright clearances for all materials used in the program.
Determining the order and importance of program elements.
Assigning coordinating and supervising team members contributing to the program or specific segments.
Maintaining professional contacts relevant to the programs focus.
Overseeing the design and structure of enhanced digital segments for the shows website and platforms.
Proposing and supervising multiplatform content initiatives connected to the program.
Editing and mixing audio or visual elements or supervising that process.
Maintaining an appropriate and continuous level of communication with the audience consistent with the shows tone and purpose.
Your profile:
University degree or equivalent in journalism communications political science or a related field
Five (5) years of experience including at least three (3) in broadcasting or a related field directly connected to program production
Strong positive and collaborative leadership skills
Genuine commitment to fostering and promoting a respectful inclusive and diverse workplace culture
Bilingualism (French/English) required
Excellent knowledge of Ontarios communities including the Greater Toronto Area Northern Ontario and Southwestern Ontario
Excellent editorial judgment
Strong knowledge of regional national and international current affairs
Broad general knowledge
Solid understanding of social media and web content analytics tools
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Initiative creativity and resourcefulness
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
Ability to go on air an asset
Knowledge of Radio-Canadas mandate programming policies and Journalistic Standards and Practices
