Saint Ignatius College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced 1st XV Rugby Coach for the 2026 GPS season. You will be a part of vibrant educational community which aims to provide students the opportunity to utilise their talents to make a difference in the community.
In addition to developing innate skills and talents Riverviews Co-curriculum Program helps young men to accept success and failure with grace and dignity to work co-operativelywith others and to use the qualities of each to contribute to the greater good of the community. Sport and other co-curricular activities are seen as key agents in the development of the whole person.
Working in collaboration with and under the immediate direction of the Head of Co-curriculum and the Program Co-ordinator - Rugby this position will provide leadership to the 1st Rugby program driving on-field success player development both on and off field and alignment with our Ignatian values.
The position would have an immediate start and will be a maximum term contract until the end of August 2026 with an option to renew on a successful performance review. The commitment is 20 hours per week which includes before & after school training during the week and Saturdays.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will:
- Minimum 3 years experience coaching Senior Rugby programs in a school club or academy setting
- Experience coaching and developing high performance athletes
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrate time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and a capacity to develop a climate of trust and mutual respect with colleagues students and parents
- Up to date knowledge of modern trends in Rugby coaching methodology
- Hold relevant qualifications Level 1 Rugby Australia Community Coach qualification is essential
- Level 2 Rugby Australia Community Coach qualification highly desirable
- Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the Mission and Values of the College
- Hold a current Working with Children Check and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety welfare and well-being of children and young people
- Hold current First Aid and CPR certification
- Hold current Smart Tackle certification
