Visy Logistics is seeking a dynamic Lead Despatcher / Relief Driver to join our Auckland-based team. This hybrid role combines operational leadership with on-the-road driving responsibilities while offering variety challenge and the opportunity to make a real impact.
About the role:
As Lead Despatcher you will play a critical leadership role who is responsible for guiding the despatch team to support safe operations service excellence and improve cost efficiency. You will be pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of fleet and operations with a strong focus on asset optimization productivity cost reduction improved customer experience and a strong safety culture. You will be responsible for improving safety lead and lag indicators and maximising vehicle utilisation and profitability whilst fostering a positive and motivated working environment.
What Youll Do:
- Lead and coach the despatch team to deliver safe efficient and customer-focused transport services.
- Drive strategic improvements in fleet utilisation asset productivity and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards legal requirements and internal systems.
- Step in as a Class 5 Relief Driver when needed ensuring timely and compliant deliveries.
- Engage proactively with internal and external customers to maintain high service standards.
- Support continuous improvement labour planning and team development.
What Youll Bring:
- Demonstrated experience in transport logistics or supply chain industry
- Experience in despatching and/or driving roles with a track record of leading teams
- Strong TMS SAP experience and telematics knowledge.
- Clean and current Class 5 licence with 2 years heavy vehicle experience.
- Bulk tipping and front-end loader experience.
- Strong understanding of NZ road fatigue mass and restraint laws.
