Life Skills Career and Technical Education Coordinator

In this position youll lead engaging hands-on learning experiences that connect life skills career readiness and technical education. The role will initially focus on Life Skills Education supporting students in building functional social and daily living skills. Over time it will expand to include Career and Technical Education (CTE) developing community partnerships and work-based learning experiences that prepare students for greater independence and success beyond the classroom. Working collaboratively with teachers clinicians and behavioral specialists youll foster growth through structure creativity and compassion.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under general supervision plans and implements life skills career and technical education (CTE) instruction. Supports teachers in developing lesson plans and activities aligned with student needs and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Assesses student abilities and interests provides recommendations to treatment teams and coordinates on- and off-campus work placements through community partnerships. Reports to the Principal or Assistant Principal.Life Skills Education
- Deliver daily instruction and therapeutic strategies outlined in IEP and lesson plans focusing on functional transitional and behavioral goals.
- Provide individual and small group student support in a classroom and community setting across all life skill areas including personal care and hygiene domestic skills (meal prep housekeeping etc) financial and community literacy.
- Support vocational readiness through on-campus training pre-vocational tasks and transition planning.
Career & Technical Education (CTE)
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to support internships and work-study placements.
- Coordinate and oversee internal work-study programs and student internships ensuring clear expectations and documentation (e.g. agreements assessments certifications).
- Provide instruction in employability skills such as resume writing interviewing workplace behavior and safety.
- Conduct career and technical assessments for students aged 14 to identify strengths interests and needs; make recommendations for IEP goals.
- Support teachers with technical resources materials and instructional modifications.
- Manage the school greenhouse and related outdoor learning spaces.
- Track student stipends maintain OSHA kits and supplies and oversee task analyses and video modeling.
General Responsibilities
- Collect and maintain data on student behavioral incidents and functional skills performance (e.g. frequency duration accuracy) to inform instruction and treatment.
- Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and crisis intervention strategies as directed by the teacher and clinical team.
- Collaborate daily with teachers clinicians and behavioral staff to ensure a consistent integrated educational approach.
- Maintain a safe organized learning environment that promotes independence and social skills.
- Model and promote appropriate social skills self-regulation and positive peer interaction throughout the school day.
- Participate in IEP meetings prepare progress reports and communicate with parents guardians and external agencies as required.
- Administer and document assessments according to policy and state testing requirements.
- Attend conferences and workshops to keep abreast of professional trends developments and techniques.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in human services special education or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required to perform the job duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS:
- Prior experience teaching students with special education needs preferred.
- Prefer eligibility for vocation certification.
- Pesticide Certification and certification as a greenhouse manager or ability to obtain upon hire; preferred.
