Job Summary
Mantis Innovation provides managed facility services and turnkey program management with technology-enabled solutions that target the entire building footprint. We look at the entire facilityinside and outand can impact 70% of what a building operator allocates critical budget dollars toward including: Strategic electricity and natural gas procurement renewable energy and demand response; climate impact reduction and reporting net zero strategies and sustainability planning; roofing solar HVAC assessment management pavement building envelope data center optimization and EV charging; lighting/LED retrofits HVAC/mechanical systems and BMS/BAS improvements and implementation.
About the Role:
We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Software Development Manager to lead our engineering team in Houston. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of technology and business and who can guide teams through the full software development lifecycleincluding AI-driven initiativeswhile interfacing directly with executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers working across Ruby on Rails React and PostgreSQL stacks.
- Proactively communicate team progress and technical details to executive leadership translating team-level activities into strategic updates for senior stakeholders.
- Act as a product ownerfor twosoftware product lines: triageadjudicate and prioritize incoming business requests break down problems and funnel work to the team effectively.
- Architect scalable forward-looking solutions that address current and future business needs.
- Drive the implementation of AI-enhanced SDLC practices ensuring intelligent and efficient development workflows.
- Interface regularly with executive leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.
- Oversee technology demand governance ensuring prioritization and resource alignment across initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams translating business needs into actionable development plans.
- Oversee project planning sprint execution code reviews and deployment strategies.
- Foster a collaborative inclusive and high-performance team culture.
- Ensure software quality security and maintainability across all projects.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience managing software development teams.
- Strong proficiency in: Ruby on Rails React PostgreSQL AI SDLC implementation (e.g. using AI tools for Code generation testing or optimization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in energy procurement energy efficiency or facility asset management.
- Experience in enterprise-scale systems or SaaS platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP).
- Background in data-driven product development or AI/ML integration.
- Skilled in working with Mapbox and Swift (iOS) platforms.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Skilledin conflict resolution team motivation and cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstratedexperienceinterfacing with executives and translating strategic goals into technical execution.
- Deep technicalexpertiseand credibility to earn the respect of the development team. Must be able to talk the talk and walk the walknot justmanage butunderstand and guide technical execution.
