Job Summary

VHIR offers two vacant positions for two Laboratory Research Technicians with experience in Translational Research in Immunology for the Nephrology and Transplantation Research Group.


Education and qualifications:

Required:
  • Vocational training qualification
  • Fluency in Catalan Spanish English (professional level)
  • Licence to handle experimental animals

Desired:
  • Bachelors degree in Health and Life Sciences and Master will be positively valued
  • Specific training in Transplant Immunology
  • Courses in statistics and data analysis


Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • Previous experience in basic molecular biology techniques (PCR Western Blot ELISA etc.) and cell cultures
  • Previous experience in immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence
  • Proven experience in animal (preferably mice and rats) handling product administration welfare monitoring and sacrifice
  • Previous experience in immune monitoring assays such as T-cell and B-cell ELISPOT assay
  • Expertise in flow cytometry
  • Lab management skills (analytical organizational and time management)

Desired:
  • Computer skills for the generation of databases
  • Previous knowledge in bioinformatics and specific analysis programs (OMIQ SPSS Prism etc.)
  • Good skills in dissemination activities in science
  • We are looking for a person who has a proven hands-on attitude flexible and adaptable. Additionally the following personal skills are desirable:
    • Teamwork
    • Proactivity (ability to work independently when necessary)
    • Well-organised and responsible person at work

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Isolation and culture of primary cells (PBMCs splenocytes etc.).
  • Coordinate with clinicians and research staff for collection and handling of clinical samples.
  • Participate in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and updating laboratory protocols.
  • Generate and manage sample databases.
  • Perform and analyze immune monitoring assays (ELISPOT).
  • Perform and analyze flow cytometry experiments including multicolor panels for immune profiling.
  • Perform and analyze immunofluorescence assays.
  • Contribute to data analysis and interpretation of results for internal reports grant applications and scientific publications.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations for group meetings conferences and dissemination activities.

Labour conditions:

  • Full-time position: 40h/week
  • Starting date: immediate
  • Number of positions: 2
  • Gross annual salary: 18.58905 euros (Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
  • Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
