About the job

Advantra is partnering with a seed-stage AI startup in San Francisco to hire a Fall Intern to help build and scale their information retrieval platform.

About the role

You will work with the engineering team to develop and ship features for search and data tools. You will assist in building dashboards analyzing datasets and improving system reliability. You will learn from senior engineers while contributing to real projects that impact the product and user experience.

Responsibilities

Support full-stack development tasks across frontend and backend systems.
Build and maintain internal dashboards and analytics tools.
Assist in developing and testing search and data features.
Analyze datasets to improve system performance and accuracy.
Collaborate with engineers on code reviews and design discussions.
Debug and fix bugs in production and development environments.
Document features and development processes clearly.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for product improvements.

Core requirements

Currently enrolled in a computer science or related degree program.
At least 1 year of coding experience in Python SQL or similar languages.
Experience building small web apps or projects using frontend frameworks.
Familiarity with data structures and algorithms.
Experience with version control systems like Git.
Ability to write clean and maintainable code.
Experience debugging and testing software.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks.

Nice to have

Experience with React or Typescript for frontend development.
Experience with backend frameworks or APIs.
Familiarity with information retrieval or search technologies.
Exposure to machine learning or AI systems.
Participation in coding competitions or research projects.
