About the job

Advantra is partnering with a Series A AI marketing platform startup in San Francisco to hire a Backend Software Engineer to design build and maintain core backend systems powering the companys marketing automation platform.

About the role

You will own backend features end-to-end from design to deployment handling high-volume workflows and data pipelines. You will work directly with customers to fix issues and improve features. You will collaborate with a small high-performing team and contribute to the architecture and reliability of the system.

Responsibilities

1. Design and implement backend services and APIs.
   

2. Build and maintain high-throughput data pipelines and job queues.
   

3. Work directly with customers to fix bugs and enhance features.
   

4. Scope design and deliver end-to-end product features.
   

5. Collaborate with frontend engineers and product teams on feature integration.
   

6. Contribute to system architecture and scalability planning.
   

7. Optimize performance and reliability of backend systems.
   

8. Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality.
   

9. Track metrics and monitor production systems.
   

Core requirements

1. Experience with Golang in production environments.
   

2. Familiarity with job queuing systems such as Kafka.
   

3. Experience with relational databases preferably PostgreSQL.
   

4. Cloud hosting experience preferably GCP.
   

5. Proven ability to design implement and deploy backend systems.
   

6. Strong debugging testing and problem-solving skills.
   

7. Startup mindset: scrappy independent and proactive.
   

8. Comfortable working in a small high-intensity team.
   

9. Willingness to work on site in San Francisco 5 days a week.
   

10. Intellectual curiosity and a passion for building customer-focused products.
    

Nice to have

1. Track record of personal projects hackathons or side applications.
   

2. Experience with high-volume SaaS platforms.
   

3. Familiarity with email delivery systems and marketing automation workflows.
   

4. Exposure to full-stack or platform engineering.
   

5. Active engagement in tech communities or relevant open-source contributions.
