What does a Job Developer do
As a Job Developer your goal is to open doors for clients who face barriers to finding work through traditional job search methods. Youll build strong connections with local employers by getting involved in the community making outreach calls networking and nurturing relationships over time. Working closely with the Employer Liaison youll stay plugged into the local job market so you can spot opportunities early. Youll help match clients with employers which fit both the employers needs and the clients strengths sometimes through job carving or customized placements. You will also support clients in conversations with employers and provide ongoing job retention support to make sure they not only land the job but keep it. Your work helps create sustainable employment solutions that benefit both job seekers and local businesses.

In this role you will:
- Work closely with Employment Consultants to match clients with roles that suit their skills and goals.
- Actively connect with employers through outreach networking and cold calls to uncover job openingsincluding in the hidden job market.
- Support clients with job readiness coaching and retentionespecially those who need a bit of extra guidance.
- Customize job opportunities through job carving or modified roles to better fit client strengths and abilities.
- Stay in regular contact with employers and clients to ensure successful long-term job matches.
- Jump in to support other team roles (like Employment Consultant or Facilitator) when needed.
- Collaborate with the full team to provide seamless high-quality servicesand step up when coverage is needed.
- Provide on-the-job support to clients and employers.
Requirements:
Essential Requirements:
- In depth understanding of the local labour market Employment Standards Act and marketing strategies
- Ability to take a unique approach in coming up with ideas to meet clients employment placement needs
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and interpreting client and/or employer needs; coaching and mentoring clients; working with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds; and building strong partnerships with employers community agencies and other stakeholders
- Strong networking skills
- Degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. career or employment development vocational rehabilitation social work psychology sociology human services counselling education or human resources management sales/marketing) preferred; or equivalent experience
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work Monday to Friday in Centre and/or the community
- Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct; must submit for a criminal record check
- Lifelong learner willing and able to remain flexible and adapt to changes in program and company requirements.
- A valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle
Preferred Criteria:
- Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) Designation
- Bilingual (French and English)
