Special Education Co-Teacher

This position is ideal for someone passionate about special education eager to grow professionally and committed to creating transformative learning experiences. As a Co-Teacher youll work closely with lead teachers and service providers to implement individualized support that promotes independence confidence and lifelong success.

Key Responsibilities

• Support instruction in functional academics communication life and vocational skills for students with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities.

• Collaborate with lead teachers to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress toward goals.

• Provide small-group and one-on-one instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

• Support students in developing social behavioral and self-regulation skills in and out of the classroom.

• Partner with related service providers (speech occupational and physical therapists) to deliver coordinated care.

• Assist students with activities of daily living (feeding lifting toileting mobility assistance) when necessary.

• Maintain accurate documentation student data and communication logs.

• Foster inclusion by supporting student participation in general education settings and community-based learning opportunities.

• Demonstrate patience adaptability and compassion in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of 48 college credit hours required; Bachelors degree preferred.

• Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities or diverse learning needs strongly preferred.

• Certification:

  • Willingness to pursue special education certification.

Knowledge Skills and Attributes

• Ability to physically assist students as required (positioning lifting transferring).

• Strong instructional communication and organizational skills.

• Skilled in managing classroom behavior through positive proactive strategies.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $16.57$20.00 depending on experience.
Pay Schedule: Earnings are distributed over a 12-month period.
