Social Emotion Learning Specialist (SELS) Job Description
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coach plays a critical role in advancing educational equity and excellence by fostering a culture of belonging within the school community. The coachs primary mission is to empower staff and students in the development of their regulation skills and emotional intelligence ensuring that all members feel a true sense of belonging and can access learning at high levels.

Core Responsibilities and Functions
The SEL Coach is responsible for supporting the development of regulation skills and emotional intelligence for all stakeholders through a variety of instructional coaching and support services.
I. Coaching and Instruction
Serve as theSEL Curriculum Coach assisting with the implementation and refinement of SEL programs.
ProvideSmall group SEL instructionto students based on identified needs.
Design and deliverTraining for Staffon various SEL topics and practices.
II. Student and Crisis Support
OfferIndividual student supportfocused on emotional regulation and skill development.
Provide support forCrisis De-Escalationefforts on campus.
DeliverSuicide Prevention and intervention support.
FacilitateCollaborative Problem Solvingsessions to address student-related challenges.
III. School-Wide Systems and Initiatives
Support and guideStaff Wellnessinitiatives.
Implement and supportPBIS(Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).
Facilitate the implementation ofRestorative Justicepractices.
Promote and supportTrauma Informed practice and supportacross the school.
Analyze and utilizeSEL datato inform practice identify needs and measure program effectiveness.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the school principal and/or administrator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters in counseling orrelated field from an accredited college/university OR Valid Oregon TSPC license. Candidates enrolled in a masters level school counseling or related program will be considered.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to social emotional learning equity and student success along with demonstrated expertise in:
Emotional Intelligence and Regulation Skills.
Curriculum Coaching and Staff Development.
Crisis Intervention and De-Escalation Techniques.
Restorative Practices and Trauma-Informed Care.
Data Analysis for Program Improvement.
