Job Summary

Job Title: Security Installation Engineer
Location: Cardiff Wales
Employment Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary Range: per year (depending on experience)

About the Role:
Were seeking an experienced and motivated Security Installation Engineer to join a well-established supportive team. The role involves installing and commissioning a range of electronic security systems including intruder alarms CCTV and access control systems across commercial domestic and local authority premises in the South Wales region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install test and commission intruder alarm CCTV and access control systems to a high standard.

  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and documented on electronic job sheets.

  • Communicate effectively with customers and the operations team regarding scheduling additional works or system upgrades.

  • Participate in the call-out rota (approximately three times per year) with standby pay and additional compensation for callouts.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing the team.

  • Work both independently and collaboratively with other engineers and trainees.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in security system installation and commissioning.

  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.

  • Good communication and customer interaction skills.

  • Self-disciplined and able to manage workload efficiently.

  • Must pass BS7858 security screening Enhanced DBS and police checks.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with a variety of alarm CCTV and access control products.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Intruder alarm installation and commissioning CCTV system installation and configuration Access control system setup and troubleshooting Security system integration and testing Knowledge of security hardware and electronic components Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and wiring schematics Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment Strong communication skills for customer interaction and reporting Attention to detail and quality assurance in installations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Time management and organizational skills Basic IT skills for software configuration and system updates Compliance knowledge including BS7858 security screening and DBS checks Ability to handle on-call duties and emergency repairs


Required Education:

Typical educational qualifications for a Security Installation Engineer include:Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GCSEs or A-levels preferred in the UK)Vocational training or certification in electronic security systems electrical engineering or related technical fieldsRelevant industry certifications such as:BS7858 Security Screening (mandatory for many roles)NAPIT or NICEIC certification for electrical work (desirable)Manufacturer-specific certifications for alarm
