Job Summary

Helix Community Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational School-Based Therapist to join our Student Support Services team. The therapist will play a key role in promoting student success by helping learners develop improve and maintain the skills necessary for participation and independence in the school environment.

Job Description:

  • Caseload and details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location
    • Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom and best suits your experience and skillset
  • Contract through the 2025/2026 school year - Part Time (20-30 hours per week)
  • Contract follows the academic district calendar

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Conduct assessments to determine students functional abilities and needs in the educational setting.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support academic and functional skill development.

  • Collaborate with teachers parents and related service providers to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.

  • Support student participation in daily school routines including fine motor skills sensory regulation self-care and social interaction.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation including evaluation reports therapy notes and progress monitoring.

  • Provide consultation and training for staff to support strategies and accommodations in the classroom.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Current Louisiana license (or eligibility) to practice Occupational Therapy.

  • Experience working with school-aged children preferably in an educational or pediatric setting.

  • Strong interpersonal collaboration and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and strategies to support students with diverse needs.
