Job Summary

Helix Community Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational School-Based Therapist to join our Student Support Services team. The therapist will play a key role in promoting student success by helping learners develop improve and maintain the skills necessary for participation and independence in the school environment.

Job Description:

Caseload and details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location
- Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom and best suits your experience and skillset
Contract through the 2025/2026 school year - Part Time (20-30 hours per week)
Contract follows the academic district calendar

Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Conduct assessments to determine students functional abilities and needs in the educational setting.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that support academic and functional skill development.
Collaborate with teachers parents and related service providers to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.
Support student participation in daily school routines including fine motor skills sensory regulation self-care and social interaction.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation including evaluation reports therapy notes and progress monitoring.
Provide consultation and training for staff to support strategies and accommodations in the classroom.
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals.

Qualifications

Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Louisiana license (or eligibility) to practice Occupational Therapy.
Experience working with school-aged children preferably in an educational or pediatric setting.
Strong interpersonal collaboration and communication skills.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices and strategies to support students with diverse needs.
