Job Summary
Safeway Canmore is seeking a motivated passionate assistant department manager for our Deli HMR operations. This person would support the deli manager in day to day strategy and implementation of business plans promotions and priorities of the department. It is important for this individual to exemplify our Company Values; be driven and have a strong sense of urgency; and exemplify honesty integrity teamwork and respect in all matters. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of related experience in a fast-food or kitchen production environment including 1-2 years of such in a leadership capacity. This individual will be responsible in the relief or absence of the department manager oversee the entire operations in his/her substitute including aspects such as profit loss shrink inventory management ordering product rotating date checking and upholding departmental hygiene and sanitation. Overview
The Assistant Deli Department Manager supports and assists the Deli Manager in the efficient and fiscally responsible operation of the absence of the Department Manager the Assistant Manager will supervise coach motivate and train staff to achieve the highest level of customer service adherence to all Food Safety Protocols Standard Operating Procedures corporate policies and Health and Safety and other programs and initiatives.
The Assistant Department Manager will foster customer loyalty fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.
Job Description
Experience
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with previous Retail Meat Cutting experience
- Knowledgeable of various cuts of meat. Safeway specific training will be provided
Key Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to exceed customer needs
- Supervise Deli personnel in the absence of Deli Manager
- Promote an employee culture of coaching and development
- Complete customer deli orders
- Merchandise Deli Department service cases
- Prepare and merchandise Deli programs
- Maintain sanitation standards
- Adhere to and implement all applicable company standards
- Perform administrative duties as required
- Available to work flexible hours
- Must be available to be scheduled anytime on Sunday (Alberta Only)
- Other duties as required
