Job Summary

TITLE:Paraprofessional Instruction

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or G.E.D.

2. Associates degree or pass paraprofessional assessment as required by Title 1

3. Foundational knowledge of mathematical concepts and problem-solving

4. Work history of good attendance dependability and punctuality

5. Ability to work effectively without close supervision

6. Ability to follow instructional and work cooperatively as a part of an educational team

7. Effective written and oral communication with students and teachers

8. Ability to work with students who may have varying learning styles and emotional needs

9. Ability to manage multiple tasks prepare materials and maintain accurate records

10. Demonstrated computer skills appropriate for the position

Alternative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:Site administrators teacher(s) director or others depending on the position.

WORKS CLOSELY WITH:Classroom teacher principals office personnel

JOB GOAL:Under the supervision of a certified math teacher or site administrator the Title 1 math paraprofessional provides academic support to students particularly those who are underperforming in mathematics. The position requires excellent communication skills patience and a strong foundational knowledge of math principles to help reinforce instruction and improve student achievement.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employees will be required to perform other duties as assigned. Duties responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

1. Maintain and respect confidentiality of all information acquired.

2. Assist the teacher in developing and preparing instructional materials and learning exercises

3. Provide one-one and small group tutoring to reinforce math skills and concepts

4. Monitor and record student progress.

5. Assist with classroom management by monitoring student behavior and ensuing rules are followed.

6. Supervise students during non-instructional times such as transitions between classes.

7. Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff o coordinate instructional efforts.

8. Utilize technology such as educational software to enhance student access to math learning resources

9. Attend required staff meetings and professional development workshops.

10. Perform all other duties as may be assigned for the benefit of school programs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:School days and hours per year as designated in a one-year work agreement. Salary to be established with the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
