About the Role

The Nurse Consultant will work in partnership with the MHAID Director of Nursing service management medical allied health and other staff and contribute to strategic and operational management.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Work alongside the Clinical directors to provide professional clinical leadership to ensure evidence based clinical care
  • Increase the effectiveness of patient care delivery by leading developing and supporting evidence-based clinical practice initiatives and projects
  • Apply expert clinical experience knowledge and skills; to develop clinicians; clinical practice and practice developments to provide solutions to systemic problems to reduce harms and improve patient outcomes.
  • Develop and support clinicians and clinical practice with a particular focus on the development of senior clinical staff and leaders
  • Engage with the wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure a consistent and joined up approach

to practice fostering collegial interprofessional relationships and whole of system thinking

  • Ensuring internal service structures practices and controls to monitor and manage resource utilisation risk quality and compliance are in place and are active.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered Nurse with a current APC
  • Minimum of five years senior clinical experience in the Mental Health Intellectual Disability and Addiction setting.
  • Extensive experience in clinical leadership practice development and high-quality standards of practice
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical practice in MHAID
  • Understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the importance of reducing inequities in health outcomes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to the organizational values
  • Ability to foster and maintain excellent relationships and inspire others to action
