Job Summary
Position Description:
CGI in Atlantic Canada is seeking a passionate and skilled Data Scientist to join our growing team in Halifax. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of Canadas largest IT and business consulting firms where youll help clients unlock the power of data through advanced analytics machine learning and generative AI. As a Data Scientist you will design and implement data-driven solutions that solve complex business problems automate processes and generate actionable insights. Youll collaborate with cross-functional teams and leverage cutting-edge technologies to deliver impactful results.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Design and develop scalable data science solutions using Python and ML frameworks.
. Apply generative AI and prompt engineering to automate workflows and enhance decision-making.
. Perform data wrangling exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling.
. Build predictive models and forecasting tools to support strategic business initiatives.
. Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
. Collaborate with stakeholders across marketing finance and operations to integrate insights.
. Contribute to NLP projects including sentiment analysis computational semantics and low-resource language modeling.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. Bachelors or Masters degree in Data Science Computer Science Statistics or a related field.
. 3 years of experience in data science machine learning or AI.
. Strong proficiency in Python and libraries such as Pandas Scikit-learn TensorFlow or PyTorch.
. Experience with SQL and data visualization tools.
. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
. Knowledge of NLP deep learning and time series forecasting is a plus.
. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
. Experience with GenAI and prompt engineering.
Nice to Have
. Full Stack dev knowledge
. Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark Hadoop).
. Published research or contributions to open-source projects.
. Experience with RESTful APIs and backend systems
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for Reliability Clearance (minimum 5 years residency in Canada).
