Janitorial Staff

Center School and the Positive Regard Network seek candidates for the Janitorial Staff position. This position offers a competitive pay rate and benefit package and 12 month employment. Hours are generally Monday through Friday 40 hours per week. This position requires janitorial experience; a high school diploma or GED (must provide proof upon hire).The Janitorial Staff assures that school buildings and grounds are cleaned and maintained on a daily basis to assure a sanitary and safe school learning environment for students and staff. This position also works with students as appropriate to provide vocational training and experiential job placement whereby students can have real world experience. Responsible for daily cleaning of facilities for which they are responsible including cleaning bathrooms hallways cafeterias classrooms offices and other student-use spaces. Daily cleaning responsibilities include but are not limited to:Empty and sanitize trash and recycling binsCleaning and disinfecting the water fountainRefill supplies (toilet paper soap paper towels)Wipe down surfaces like desks tables and door handlesClean entranceways including vacuum mats and glass doors and dry and fold cleaning rags and mop bathrooms (toilets sinks mirrors and walls if necessary).Dry and wet mopping of floors and buffing stripping and waxing of floors as time permits. This may include cleaning up bodily fluids with appropriate protective equipment provided. Responsible for completing and submitting the daily cleaning log to the supervisor or designee at the end of each for assisting team members in cleaning duties as for maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies from supply companies including keeping inventory ordering supplies and distribution of consumable supplies such as with the removal of snow and ice and in the treating of outdoor surfaces when necessary. Reports to work as requested on snow cancellation days vacation days or weekends as requested to assist in snow removal by way of shoveling snowblowing salting and removing snow and ice from and report any damages or maintenance issues. Responsible for acting immediately on any safety concern or emergency maintenance need affecting students and/or staff. May be asked to perform basic building upkeep and minor repair tasks including replacing light bulbs replacing blinds or shades tightening screws replacing filters hanging white boards etc. as assigned by the Maintenance other maintenance tasks should be reported to for assignment prioritization and be asked to assist in cleaning and upkeep of company in regular supervision with Supervisor and maintains a commitment to professional in school meetings and training as health and safety regulations including health department and OSHA cleaning chemicals safely and according to instructions and secure cleaning supplies/equipment after use with attention taken to not mix chemicals. Will only use company provided cleaning supplies and chemicals with no outside cleaners brought protective equipment (gloves masks protective eyewear etc.) as serve as contact person with various outside vendors and contractors as requestedReceive and deliver various packages for the schoolSet up and break down for meetings assemblies and other furniture and equipment as all walkie calls for janitorial staff and CONDITIONS:Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to team effectively; ability to respond and intervene in crisis Demands/Environmental Factors Related to Performing the Essential Function of the Position: Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties in an often volatile work environment including frequent and repetitive standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling; regular lifting frequent and repetitive positioning; must be able to maintain the physical safety of students including performing training-compliant and therapeutic restraint of students frequently and repetitively as well as running after students as needed participate in gym recess and community outings; possible exposure to bodily fluids; able to lift up to 35 pounds. This job requires heavy lifting often for several hours at a time such as during shoveling of snow during snow storms.
