Job Title: Campus Monitor
Reports To: Building Administrator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
To maintain a safe environment for students staff and community patrons. To patrol school property observe student behavior and control and report violations of campus policies andbehavior standards. This is a full-time position (.875 FTE) with hours from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Basic duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students parents and teachers.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate with appropriate student age group requiring the use of both empathetic and disciplinary approaches.
- Ability to deal appropriately and effectively with strangers on campus.
- Ability to supervise students in the school building and on the grounds during the school day and at school sponsored activities with potentially confrontative situations involving physical risk.
- Ability to anticipate and resolve conflicts and to correct students exhibiting improper conduct and to report such conducts to the proper school official(s).
- Ability to promote safe conditions throughout the campus and report unsafe conditions to the school administration.
- Possess an awareness of student behavior gang identification symbols and language narcotics and other controlled substances such as alcohol.
- Ability to restrain students break up fights and apprehend trespassers or student offenders
- Ability to patrol and/or run to various locations within the school buildings or grounds
- Ability to work in inclement weather for extended periods of time
- Ability to investigate situations involving students and take preventative or corrective
- Interacting with colleagues community members students and parents in a respectful andtrustworthy manner.
- Possesses an awareness and sensitivity to a variety of cultural practices and values.
- Collaborates with peers parents students and community members.
- Actively seeks out professional development opportunities.
- Is accountable for actions and following through on personal and professional goals.
- Holds high expectations for self peers and students.
- Assesses personal performance and student outcomes for improvement.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Attends in-services trainings and staff meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. - Education: High school diploma/G.E.D or higher.
- Experience: Minimum three to five years experience in a related field.
- Works well with others. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
- Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one or small group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students and staff. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to operate a computer based HVAC and other building operating systems. Knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail internet and word processing software.
- Ability to appropriately communicate with students teachers parents and members of the community. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in a dynamic environment and appropriately react to a wide spectrum of behaviors of students and staff.
- Certificates as determined by the District. Ability to obtain a valid Oregon Unarmed Security Certificate a valid CPR/First Aid card Mandt trained bloodborne pathogen training including HIV training child abuse sexual conduct and any other District required training.
- Language Skills: to communicate fluently both verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.
