BGC Okanagan is seeking a qualified Behaviour Consultant to join our residential program at Penny Lane a Low-Barrier Short-Term Stabilization Home that provides support to vulnerable youth. The program includes three beds and serves youth for periods ranging from a few weeks up to nine months.
The Behaviour Consultant is responsible for developing implementing and maintaining behavioural intervention strategies and individualized support plans for youth in care. This role also provides training guidance and consultation to caregivers and staff to ensure the consistent and effective application of behavioural strategies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Applies positive behavioural support and evidence-based interventions tailored to each child or youths needs and best interests in collaboration with caregivers and service providers.
- Consults with team members on residential care need to support youth transitions into within and out of care.
- Designs and implements individualized behavioural intervention programs to enhance community participation applying behavioural and psychological principles to address complex mental health developmental and behavioural challenges.
- Identifies and manages crisis situations through appropriate interventions and safety planning.
- Provides individual and group counselling to support personal social and vocational development.
- Trains caregivers and service providers to implement individualized behaviour plans effectively.
- Develops and monitors written client plans outlining goals tasks and timelines ensuring coordinated care and smooth transitions to adult care systems.
- Stays current with research and best practices to enhance program quality.
- Maintains accurate records and prepares required reports.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in counselling psychology or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise and experience supporting children and youth with specific clinical needs (e.g. mental health and/or substance use challenges developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses complex trauma or severe behavioural challenges).

Hours: 20 hours per week (3 days per week)
Rate of Pay: $43.03 per hour
