For the BBC to maintain its industry leading reputation there are multiple business teams working hard right across the organisation to make sure projects are delivered on time and within budget so that our audiences get the very best from all of our BBC services.

The Corporate Affairs division leads how the organisation makes the case for the BBC with key external and internal groups including government opinion formers media partners as well as staff.

Corporate Affairs is a fast paced department working on both short and long term projects. You will be working across the different teams: external communications internal communications and engagement policy and public affairs and partnerships on a wide range of activity supporting programme publicity and launches campaigns stakeholder events staff events and channels.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

As a Project Manager Apprentice with the BBC Corporate Affairs team youll work with experienced professionals and contribute to impactful projects.


As part of your daily activities you may:

  • Take a role to support project planning and delivery related to key priorities.
  • Assist with the creation and delivery of assets and materials that promote high profile content as part of external and internal campaigns.
  • Manage various administrative tasks supporting project delivery that meets deadlines.

Youll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor-led workshops tutorial sessions practical and library-based research presentations group work and real-world simulated projects.

The apprenticeship programme is structured across 3 learning levels:

  • Level 4: Covers Business Environment Stakeholder Management and Project Planning & Control
  • Level 5: Focuses on Project Management Professionalism and Professional Development
  • Level 6: Includes Programme & Portfolio Management Project Leadership & Governance and Change & Risk Management

The programme concludes with an integratedEnd Point Assessment (EPA).

During your apprenticeship youll work towards a BSc (Hons) Level 6 degree in Project Management alongside earning the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) - a respected industry certification. Upon successful completion youll be eligible to apply for full membership with the Association for Project Management (APM). This qualification opens doors to roles such as Project Coordinator Business Assistant or Business Coordinator both within the BBC and across other organisations

Were not focused on your qualifications; instead we look for potential and offer you the opportunity to apply your transferable strengths and experience to work in different ways.

  • Have a passion to learn more about Business Management or Project Management
  • Want to work with data or with business management information on a regular basis generating reports analysing data or using spreadsheets. Demonstrating great attention to detail.
  • Are motivated accountable and self-driven. You should be an effective team player with the ability to communicate with various stakeholders both internally and externally

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC you must:

  • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship
  • Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
  • Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme whether with the BBC or another organisation
  • Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level

To apply for this scheme you must also:

  • Have or expect to have Maths and English GCSEs or National 5 (Scotland) at 9-4 (A-C) or an equivalent qualification
  • Have or expect to have a Level 3 qualification(s) that equate to 96 UCAS points. This could be:
    o A Levels 3 x Cs or above in any subject
    o An Advanced apprenticeship BTEC or NVQ will also be considered but must equate to 96 UCAS points. - UCAS points vary so please check your qualification here.

For candidates under the age of 19 years at 8th September 2026: To complete the apprenticeship you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent qualification. If you have not achieved these qualifications by the start of your apprenticeship you will be required to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of your apprenticeship when you take your end-point assessment.
