At United we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians engineers planners ground equipment and facilities professionals and supply chain teams that help make sure theyre well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. If youre ready to work on our planes join our Tech Ops experts and help keep our fleet in tip-top shape.
Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Operations Facilities and Ground Support Equipment Maintenance (FX/GX) intern youll work side-by-side with our Technical Operations professionals taking on problems and learning about our industry. Internships are paid and course credit hours may be considered depending on universitys guidelines. Technical Operations FX/GX interns will be working on different projects throughout our system. Potential projects include but are not limited to: Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Fleet Management Reliability Facilities and GSE Maintenance Strategy Telemetry Analytics Predictive Maintenance and more. And depending on the team you could be located in: Houston TX (IAH)
Regardless of your assignment you will work on projects that will provide you with applicable real-world experience in one of our many engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities could include the following:
Clean obtain and organize operational data and enhance existing dashboards (ex. Spotfire Tableau)
Review categorize and index OEM manuals blueprints and training materials
Prepare cost analysis on projects
Analyze equipment utilization metrics and root-cause to improve processes
Communicate analysis results to all levels of the organization

Whats needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering or another related field
Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours in core degree course work
Individual should be a rising junior (at minimum) when internship begins
Must be available for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2026
Work related travel may be required individuals must be able to travel without any restrictions
