Opened in November 2024 after an extensive redevelopment Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery occupies a unique position as one of New Zealands largest regional arts institutions. Located within historic Pukenamu Queens Park at the heart of Whanganui city the gallery has a nationally significant collection iconic building diverse exhibitions and is the home of the renowned Tylee artist residency programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Te Whare o Rehua Sarjeant Gallery following the highly acclaimed opening of the redeveloped gallery. You will complete the establishment of the new spacious photography studio while working in a constantly evolving creative space with artists photographers galleries and the public. This is a pivotal role supplying high quality images of the collection and programmes while contributing to publications marketing collateral and maintaining the gallerys highly respected profile.
You will have:
- A broad range of proven experience in digital photography including studio portraiture and events;
- Proficiency using specialist digital image editing software;
- Knowledge of photographic equipment and lighting;
- Experience with image file management;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be a good team player;
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office; and
- A current NZ drivers license.
Previous experience with art and object handling in a gallery or museum environment knowledge of analogue photography processes and a photography qualification would be advantageous. Note that this position demands a requisite level of physical fitness.
This is a part-time role of 32 hours per week.
