Senior Data Engineer Lead (AWS, Cloud Technologies) Markham,Ontario

As a Senior Data Engineer Lead you will play a key role in architecting and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions. Youll lead technical strategy design modern data ecosystems and deliver scalable pipelines supporting the clients next-generation Snowflake-based data platform to enable AI and GenAI capabilities.

You will report to the AVP Data Engineering and collaborate with a high-performing global team to build a robust data foundation aligned with enterprise architecture goals.

• Define and drive enterprise data engineering standards strategy and best practices.

• Design and implement scalable high-performance data pipelines using dbt Core/Cloud and AWS.

• Develop high-level and low-level data architecture aligned with business goals.

• Lead teams in coding testing and deployment using SQL Python Shell and Terraform.

• Champion data governance cataloging and quality initiatives.

• Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.

• Mentor junior engineers and foster engineering excellence.

• Collaborate with architects QA and product teams for seamless delivery.

• Produce comprehensive technical documentation and contribute to team hiring.

• 15 years of experience delivering enterprise data projects end-to-end.

• 5 years of experience in Snowflake dbt Core/Cloud and AWS Cloud Technologies.

• Strong coding experience in Python SQL Shell and Terraform.

• In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (Snowflake PostgreSQL MongoDB Amazon Aurora).

• Hands-on experience with orchestration tools like AWS Managed Airflow or Zena.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Familiarity with AI/ML and GenAI operationalization is an advantage.

• Insurance domain knowledge is a plus.

• SnowPro Core / Advanced Data Engineer (DEA-C01 or C02)

• SnowPro Advanced: Architect (ARA-C01)

• dbt Developer Certification

• AWS Cloud Practitioner
