Lecturer Grade F:35608 - 46049 per annum

Lecturer Grade G: 47389 - 56535 per annum

The Role

Based in the School of Pharmacy you will participate fully in the Schools range of teaching and research activities but with a specific focus on work-based learning. You must have experience of teaching mentorship or of supervising undergraduate students or foundation pharmacists. We are interested in people with or without prior experience of working in a school of pharmacy but who have a string current knowledge of the practice of pharmacy in one or more sectors.

The School of Pharmacy benefits from being an integral part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences with strong teaching and research links to colleagues in medicine biomedical sciences dentistry psychology and chemistry.

The University has developed an Academic Job Summary Guidance document which summarises the range of activities that academic colleagues may be expected to perform.

Key Accountabilities

• Undertake teaching module leadership and supervision of undergraduate students;
• Offer expertise in an individuals specialist area(s);
• Undertake teaching leadership and supervision duties across a range of the School programmes with a focus on work-based learning within the MPharm programme;
• Undertake administrative duties as deemed necessary including participation in relevant School and Faculty committees and activities;
• Participate in external activity related to pharmacy learning and teaching;
• Contribute to the promotion of undergraduate pharmacy programmes to both current and prospective students;
• Act as a personal tutor to a small group of students concerned with students academic achievements and pastoral care;
• Contribute to University administration course planning curriculum development the recruitment of students engage in teaching and scholarly activities and module / programme leadership;
• Participate in relevant staff development activities;
• Undertake other duties such as participation in School Faculty and University meetings as detailed by the Head of School.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
• Creativity and innovation;
• Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team;
• Excellent organisational administrative and planning skills;
• Understanding of current themes and issues in the delivery of pharmacy education;
• Established clinical knowledge and interest in work-based learning;
• Experience of teaching pharmacy at UG level or of supervising foundation pharmacists;
• Specialist knowledge and interest in an area relevant to the clinical pharmacy strand of an MPharm programme;
• Excellent organisational administrative and planng skills;

Qualifications

• Sustained equivalent clinical experience OR a PhD or Professional Doctorate in Pharmacy or closely related subject;
• Registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council
