Job Summary

Description

Greets and registers patients prepares and processes appropriate forms directs patients to appropriate areas. Performs miscellaneous clerical duties such as collecting data filing batching encounter forms etc.



Responsibilities

1. Performs a complete registration of patient financial and demographic information in the Eagle System. Responsibility for the integrity of the data

2. Interviews new patients in a timely fashion. Obtains demographics insurance and payment information

3. Verifies patient information each time the patient presents to the clinic to insure that system data is accurate

4. Verifies Medicaid eligibility HMO and managed care status and insurance listings via Eagle System

5. Collects co-payments as required

6. Provides patients with metro card when applicable

7. Requests and prep medical record chart for patient visit. Files appropriate forms in charts

8. Coordinates with medical records to obtain assignment of block numbers for new patients

9. Responds to incoming telephone calls promptly. Assess callers needs and directs as appropriate

10. Phones patients to confirm their appointments

11. Follows recall protocol for patients who do not show for their appointments

12. Documents in chart all referrals as ordered by the provider. Reviews chart for completeness

13. Schedules patients appointments in hospital computer system and coordinates referrals to specialty clinics

14. Secures emergent approvals on referrals including scheduling of emergent appointments

15. When requested follows up on lab reports and other tests ordered by the provider. Obtains lab reports from clinic computer database when necessary

16. Obtains authorization numbers for Medicare/Medicaid patients for durable equipment nutritional supplements sterile supplies etc

17. Completes encounter forms and reconciles encounters with patient visits

18. Monitors patient flow in waiting rooms and notifies Manager when flow issues related to registration arises

19. Identifies and reports all patient issue matters to Manager

20. Maintains patient confidentiality in all matters relating to patient information

21. Alerts referral coordinator when issues relating to managed care insurances arise

22. Closes visits via eagle system



Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Eagle and Spanish preferred. Prior experience in a patient/customer oriented environment.
  • BLS or Heart Saver Certification Required ( American Heart Association)
  • Preferred 2 years experience of patience care experience
