Surgical Scheduler - 7a-3:30p Sat. & Sun. e/o wknd & 2 holidays/yr.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
A member of the health care team who coordinates and performs clerical billing/scheduling duties to enhance the functioning of the Operating Rooms. Schedules procedures in collaboration with physicians offices and the ED for Christiana and Wilmington campuses assuring the availability and proper utilization of resources including time equipment and personnel for add-on cases. These functions are also performed for elective cases during Centralized Schedulings off hours in addition to holidays.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs billing functions for the Operating Room Post-Op Recovery Anesthesia GI Lab and Surgical Procedure Unit within tight billing deadlines.
Negotiates with Physicians offices and ED personnel for dates and times to accommodate their requests for scheduling procedures.
Selects correct Preference List from Surgeons File Listing that will request and reserve accurate instrumentation supplies and equipment for each scheduled case.
Utilizing a proficient knowledge of basic OR equipment/instrumentation identifies conflict associated with case requirements.
Collaborates with PCC to resolve time conflicts contacting Surgeons offices requesting time changes or adjustments in case schedules that will provide a positive outcome for both the patient and surgeon.
Works with Physicians office staff PCC and anesthesia in addressing and scheduling special requests for specific dates and times or requests to start earlier or later than originally scheduled.
Utilizes knowledge of Surgical Diagnoses and collaborates with PCC and Anesthesia to process scheduling of urgent case requests.
Utilizes competently SurgiNet software in capturing patient information and completing designated fields for accurate transmission and use by Admitting Bed Control and PEP Departments for positive outcomes in patient care.
Demonstrates computer skills needed with software utilized in the Perioperative Services to include SurgiNet Billing/Scheduling Systems.
Practices professional telephone etiquette and centralized call office for all incoming Operating Room calls.
Performs assigned work safely adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor in a timely manner any unsafe activities conditions hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself other employees patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years clerical or related experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Hourly Pay Range: $21.03 - $31.54This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCares good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
