General Function:
Provides leadership to the implementation of institutional mentoring and student coaching programs BUCKS Scholars Academy MP3 relational mentoring and advising programs and first-year relational mentoring programs. Supervises peer mentors who will provide supplemental support to specific student groups such as probation students learning support students and other high need populations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree earned from a regionally accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and Three (3) years prior experience in higher education student service position(s) advising student success coaching career services mentoring experience working with student initiatives or services
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership direction strategic planning development and implementation of successful peer mentoring efforts. Recruit supervise and train peer mentors. Provide advocacy and expertise related to faculty and staff mentors.
Provide academic advisement and assistance to students in assigned caseload or populations by creating academic plans recommending programs of study making course recommendations and providing academic strategies to students based on their educational and career goals.
Provide students accurate and complete information on degree programs course requirements graduation and various other academic issues associated with completion and success of students with the goal of reasonable time to degree with the least amount of cumulative attempted hours; Providing academic advising support to faculty and various administrative staff in the form of training and information updates.
Develop reports and maintain data associated with the required outcomes for the relational advising grant relational advising model and TN Promise program to submit to Tennessee Board of Regents.
Assists the Student Engagement and Retention Initiatives with implementation and coordination of College-Wide retention initiatives.
Articulate the campus vision of mentoring and student success coaching including outreach to students faculty staff and the community.
Coordinate peer mentoring efforts for identified student populations i.e. adult learners veterans
Maintain mentoring/coaching caseload with case management technologies.
Works closely with college administration to organize student success initiatives
Works with the Director of Financial Aid offices of Admissions and Records Disability and Testing Services and Career Planning to ensure that appropriate student services are provided to program participants. Works closely with college administration to organize student success initiatives to foster a spirit of cross-campus communication and collaboration in support of the mentoring initiatives.
Serve as a resource person for faculty and staff as needed; clarify student issues and work with students other advisors administrators faculty academic deans Financial Aid Admissions Records and the site campus deans to reduce barriers to student success and completion for the identified student groups.
Provide coverage of the Student Advising center or attend events evenings or weekends during periods of increased student need or during peak student usage.
